The Amazing Dickson Ladies Literary Society

The Dickson Ladies Literary Society has been going strong for more than 60 years. A few days ago I had the pleasure of joining about 30 lovely ladies who were reading Prodigal, and what a great time I had with them. They meet at the Clement Railroad Museum and Hotel. That in itself was such a pleasure. I want to go back and spend more time in the historic downtown of Dickson!

A Bookish Moment Podcast

I’m excited to be a guest on A Bookish Moment Thursday, May 29, @ 4:30 ET, 3:30 Central. Please join me and the hosts, Sarah and J.C., as we talk about books, writing – and I’m sure they will ask about Prodigal!

If you can’t catch us live, the episode will still be available on YouTube. Here is the link:

A Bookish Moment

Centennial Club

After a wild night of storms in Nashville, this room was still full on Thursday at noon when I spoke to the Centennial Club ladies about Prodigal. Such an honor to be invited! What a thrill to sign the guest book along with signatures from many years past – Robert Frost and Amelia Earhart to name a few!

Parnassus came to the Centennial Club and sold books. These that are left went back to Parnassus.

If you’re thinking of reading Prodigal, please buy it from Parnassus!

PRODIGAL is Southern Literary Review’s “Read of the Month”

Fireworks, fireflies, and gunfire light up Phyllis Gobbell’s exquisite, poignant novel Prodigal (Histria Fiction 2024). This modern retelling of the prodigal son is, above all, a story of love and forgiveness in a Southern family.”

Donna Meredith reviews Prodigal and interviews Phyllis Gobbell in February’s Southern Literary Review.
