Writing Contests

I was asked to write a blog for the WNBA newsletter on the pros and cons of writing contests. After I sent in the blog, I was actually a finalist in two contests, the Claymore Awards and the Silver Falchion Award, and I won the Silver Falchion. That’s the way it goes; now and then you will win! My blog tells you what to look for and what to look out for!

Layne Martine Visits Our Writers Group

Layne Martine and his wife, Linda

Our Tuesday night writers group was honored with a visit from Layne Martine, talking about his new book, Permission to Fly.

Reading the book was a treat. Meeting Layne was an inspiration. He talked about life, love, family, writing, and songwriting. He talked about making mistakes and learning from them. He talked about never giving up, never letting life get you down.

There are reviews on Amazon and Goodreads that give more details about the book. I’ll just say it’s a must-read. Filled with humor and wisdom, it’s about real love and – I guess I would say – real happiness.

Thank you, Layng, for a wonderful book and a delightful evening!

Killer Nashville 2019

Killer Nashville is always a great conference. I’ll be on two panels (writing cozies and creating conflict) and hope to catch a couple of other panels on writing. I’ll get to pitch my novel-in-progress. Saturday night is the Awards banquet. The keynote speaker for this conference is Joyce Carol Oates! So excited!
